About The Serpent And The Lamb
If there is one thing you should know about me, it's that I have loved stories for as long as I can remember.
As a child, I found refuge within the pages of books. Like so many readers, I discovered that stories could become places. For me, they became safe homes when I needed one most. I found families when I couldn't find my own, and quiet sanctuaries from a world that often felt far too unforgiving.
Somewhere between the many library books, second hand copies plucked from the free bin, and late nights spent reading beneath blankets with a Dollar Tree flashlight clenched gently between my teeth, long after I was supposed to be asleep, I realized that stories had become part of who I was.
That understanding never left me.
It grew into a love of writing when I was twelve, a desire to create worlds of my own, and eventually the dream of building a space where fellow readers could gather and celebrate the magic of books together.
The Serpent & the Lamb is that dream.
When I first imagined this little corner of the internet, I believed I needed to have everything ready all at once. I dreamed of a monthly mail club filled with carefully curated treasures, beautifully wrapped packages, and little pieces of me arriving in mailboxes each month. But somewhere along the way, I realized something important.
Creating something meaningful isn't about how quickly you launch.
It's about how intentionally you create.
So I stepped back and gave myself permission to slow down as I asked myself a simple question:
"If someone chooses to support this dream, what do they truly deserve from me?"
I found that the answer was simple.
They deserve my best.
That decision is what led me here.
Long before a single bookmark found its way into this shop, there were months spent learning. Months spent building this website one page at a time. Countless evenings redesigning, printing, trimming, laminating, testing papers, adjusting colors, and starting over when something wasn't good enough.
There were moments that felt triumphant, and others where I seriously questioned whether my printer or I would ever look at each other the same. More than once, I wanted to cry, close my laptop, and give up entirely. Thankfully, my fiancé never let me. On the days I struggled to see how far I'd come, he gently reminded me to keep going.
But I found that every setback taught me something.
Every imperfect bookmark became part of the one that came after it.
Every late night became another step toward creating something I could finally feel proud to share.
Every bookmark you'll find here has been thoughtfully designed and carefully handmade in my home because I believe the smallest details often become part of our favorite memories. A bookmark isn't simply a place to hold your page. It quietly accompanies us through unforgettable stories, impossible worlds, heartbreaking endings, and the chapters we return to again and again whenever the world feels as though it's closing in around us.
If you've found your way here, whether through a cozy reading video, a writing prompt, or simply by chance, I hope this little shop feels like an extension of everything I have loved about reading since I was a little girl.
A place where books are our most prized possessions, quiet moments are the most welcomed, and imagination is a must.
Thank you, for being here, for believing in small dreams, and for helping me turn years of hope into something that can be held in your hands or placed between pages.
Perhaps one day you'll return not only for another bookmark, but for a story of my own.
With all my darkly academic love,
N. Flora
